   Laufey was born in Reykjavík, Iceland, in 1999 to an Icelandic father and a Chinese mother, growing up surrounded by music from an early age. Her mother, a classical violinist, introduced her to classical music, inspiring Laufey to learn piano and cello. Music became a way for her to express herself, and she quickly developed a deep

love for jazz and vintage sounds, influenced by artists like Ella Fitzgerald and Chet Baker.

      Determined to pursue music, Laufey moved to the United States to study at Berklee College of Music in Boston, where she continued improving her songwriting, vocal, and instrumental skills. While studying, she began sharing her original songs and covers on social media platforms, slowly building a loyal following with her gentle voice and intimate, nostalgic sound.

     Her breakout came in 2020 and 2021. Her song gained a lot of attention on Spotify and TikTok. With the release of her EP Typical Of Me and her album Everything I Know About Love. Laufey transitioned from a talented student to a rising star, using her classical training and her songwriting skills.

     As her popularity grew, Laufey's music gained even more attention because of her quality on her music and the heartfelt lyrics she wrote. Despite her popularity, she remained humble and focused on creating music that felt honest and personal.

     In 2023, Laufey released her highly anticipated album Bewitched, a record that reflects both her growth as an artist and her deep love for jazz traditions. The album blends lush orchestration with her signature warm vocals and poetic lyrics, exploring themes of love, longing, and self-discovery. Bewitched received widespread acclaim, establishing Laufey as a fresh and authentic voice in the contemporary music scene.

     Laufey’s journey from a musically curious child in Iceland to an internationally acclaimed artist highlights her unique blend of classical training, jazz influences, and heartfelt songwriting. With her viral hit Street by Street and critically praised albums like Everything I Know About Love and Bewitched, she has carved out a fresh and timeless space in modern music.
